Japanese language has two words meaning “learn”. They are “narau” and “manabu” which are verbs. “Narau” means to learn by repetition and imitation. “Manabu” comes from “manebu” which means imitation.
We have thought that learning is based on imitation.
Recently Japanese don’t think imitation for learning. Because traditional learning needs long time; perhaps several years. We hope more efficient methods. We like Western methods.
Of course, I know Western methods are very excellent. But we have been loosing something valuable.
